Assalamu alaikum,
I’m Ikhlas Ahmed, and I’ve been working as an Engagement Specialist at the Heritage Library, Qatar National Library since 2017. I’m passionate about history, heritage, and how we tell stories—and that’s where technology and new solutions come in, helping connect all parts of the community.
My research interest’s focuses on Qatar’s modern and contemporary history, oral history, and exploring archival materials to uncover social and economic stories and contexts.
I also lead tours at our permanent exhibition in the Heritage Library, which features rare Islamic and scientific manuscripts, 2D materials, and albums from Orientalists who visited the Middle East in the 18th and 19th centuries, along with early printed books and incunabula. I look forward to welcoming you and showing you around our National Library!

The Heritage Library
I’m not an IT expert, but I’m always eager to learn about new tools and trends in the cultural heritage and library fields. I’m grateful to be the winner of 2025 of Naseej Academy Grant 2025. As part of associate program at Mortenson Center for International Library Programs.
This year’s theme, “Libraries Unbound: Open, Inclusive, and Engaged,” gave me the chance to explore inclusive digital and print collections, emerging technologies, and how libraries are working toward inclusivity to better serve all communities.
