biography

I am Florence Plockey a librarian with a wealth of experience in the field of information studies. I have a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University for Development Studies in Tamale, Ghana, Master of Arts degree in Library Studies from the University of Ghana and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Information Studies with Swahili from the same university.
I have held various positions in academic libraries, contributing to promoting knowledge, research, development and growth of library services.. I am currently the University Librarian at Accra Technical University in Ghana, a position I have held since 2020. Before joining Accra Technical University, I have held various positions at University for Development Studies Library.
I am an active member of the following professional associations: University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), Ghana Library Association, Ghana Writers Association and recently join American Library Association.
In addition to my professional roles, I have been involved in various Committees and Boards, contributing my expertise and insights to decision-making and policy development. I have authored over 16 refereed journal publications. My current goals are:
- To build synergy between the indigenous community and Academic Library Systems with the aim to of preserving our indigenous knowledge. (Digital and Print Collections and Repositories)
- To promote and raise the image of information profession in Ghana and Africa through proactive online workshops and seminars to discuss emerging trends and topical issues on information profession. (Marketing and Advocacy/ Leadership, Communication and Change Management)
- To build collaboration with other librarians from different continents.
- To appreciate/use emerging trends like AI to further advance Library Services
- To apply Innovative Design in developing library products and services.
