
Background
My name is Ginnette Calvo Guillén, I’m from Costa Rica. I’m a professor at the School of Library and Information Science at the University of Costa Rica. I got a Bachelor Degree in Library and Information Science and a Master’s Degree in Educative Technology and Innovation.
At the School of Library and Information Science we are organized in committees focused on different areas. I work as one of the people in charge of Self-Evaluation and Quality Management Committe, which is in charge of identifying strengths and weaknesses of the School’s careers.
Also, I’m one on the people in charge of the community work project called “Social projection of libraries through information management, digital literacy and the promotion of reading”. In this project a co-worker and I are in charge of coordinating and guiding librarian and other major’s students who does community work in public and scholar libraries in order to benefit communities of children, youth, adults and seniors from different libraries.

Interests
I’m interested in Information Management, Information Literacy and Information Architecture.
I’m part of the 2018 Mortenson Center Associate Program: “Imagine, Design, Engage, Act”. Among the different topics offered by the Program, I’m especially interested in Leadership, Innovation, Communication, and International Professional Networking.
Goals
My goals in the 2018 Mortenson Center Associates Program are:
- Develop skills in leadership, innovation and communication.
- Learn how to take advantage of professional networks.
- Learn about innovative services and trends in libraries.
- Learn and share with other professionals from different fields of librarianship.
