Nyakundi James Nyambane: Introductions

My name is Nyakundi James Nyambane and I work as the Head Librarian at Knowledge Empowering Youth Trust (KEY Libraries). KEY is a Canadian-Kenyan registered charity that execute easily adoptable and manageable models for school libraries targeting primary and secondary schools.

In my role as Head Librarian at KEY, I have demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic planning abilities, contributing to the project’s success across all the 46 libraries established across Kenya, Ghana and Tanzania. I have been instrumental in building relationships and collaborations with stakeholders at various levels and has represented KEY at global platforms such as the IFLA and ALA conferences.

My professional profile also includes my 8 years tenure at United States International University Africa, where I served as a Librarian in both User Services and Technical Services until Jan 2022. During the three and a half week at Mortenson Center, my learning objectives are to understand new emerging roles in library field, Develop user centered services for our libraries, Nature leadership and management skills, Learn innovative best practices and strategies that will build international collaborations and community engagements.

I am an active member of the Kenya Library Association, the American Library Association and I have served as a standing committee member for IFLA Continuous Professionals and Workplace learning 2019-2023
