During the third week of the program I spent mostly in Chicago and Ohio. The things I learned/did are as below.
- Tour: Oak Street Library, Chicago Public Library, The university of Chicago, Pritzker Museum and Library, OCLC, The Ohio State University Thompson Library, Westerville Public Library
- e-Text, OER, Publishing, Copyright, Marketing
After visiting many libraries on the Chicago and Ohio trip, I thought about the importance of collaboration. Because libraries not only provide books, but by becoming an indispensable part of the community, they are incorporating many different events and services. For example, the Chicago Public Library has game tournaments in its makerspace, and also has partnerships with other facilities and companies, as well as renting out its Winter Garden to users.
In Upshot’s marketing lecture, I learned the importance of marketing and branding. Because trends change so quickly, it was important to promote the daily input and output of information through social media such as TikTok and Instagram (this blog is also a first stop for output).
I feel that the potential of libraries has many possibilities by collaborating with outside services, not just library services alone.
