I am glad to get to the University of Illinois on June 24th, 2022. From the day following the date of arrival, the program was started. The things I learned/did are as below.
- Associates’ introductions and presentations
- Lunch with library buddy
- DISK assessment
This is an analysis of one’s own behavioral characteristics. It is an approach that helps you learn how to communicate appropriately with others in the workplace and in a variety of other situations. People are classified into the following 4 styles mainly.
– “D” tends to be strong-willed, winsome, challenging, action-oriented, and quick to seek results.
– “I” likes to join various teams, share ideas, and encourage and entertain people.
– “S” likes to help people, likes to work without showing off, acts consistently and predictably, and is a good listener.
– “C” prefers to work in a well-planned procedure, with an emphasis on improving the quality of work, and will check it many times to make sure there are no mistakes. [My Style]
I felt that understanding the characteristics of people with different styles from my own would help me to better understand the words and actions of those around me.
- Visiting Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning (CITL)
There are a lot of equipments such as 3D printer, laser cutter, virtual reality game, instructor studio and so on. Since services other than book lending are not very common in Japan, I feel that this service is important to foster creativity.
