On the first week of Mortenson Associates Program, we had time for introducing our selves, which was really nice to know each other, and learning about DiSC assessment which I have never heard about before. So I am gonna write down a little bit of record of that.
DiSC assessment is kind of personality test and it has 4 types – D, I, S, C. I had to choose many questions about how I am used to be in my workplace. For example, am I used to be systematic or spontaneous?, or am I used to care other people’s feeling rather than achieving goals, do I prefer working alone rather than in a group? There are many questions like these and the results is very specific in describing me. And for me, it turns out I am a CS person.
- D (Dominance) : FAST-PACED&OUTSPOKEN, QUESTIONING & SKEPTICAL
- I (Influence) : FAST-PACED&OUTSPOKEN, ACCEPTING&WARM
- S (Steadiness) : CAUTIOUS&REFLECTIVE, ACCEPTING&WARM
- C (Conscientiousness) : CAUTIOUS&REFLECTIVE, QUESTIONING & SKEPTICAL
And we watched some videos which describe each type of people very well and it made me much easier to understand those features. And it was nice to see how different our members are and talk about it.
As a result, every type has pros and cons and every type can be a great leader. I am so sure that this assessment will motivate my co-workers so much. They get to know themselves and other people very well and it makes easier to have a better teamwork if we use this result to organize team.
Adapting my assessment to the workplace is an amazing idea and I am excited about introducing this to my library. I wish this will make people stop judging people and start to understand the difference and diversity.
