This week started off with an important introduction to Blogging. This is a great way of collecting and digesting our thoughts at the end of each day and document these in whatever way we choose.
It was great to have guidance in creating our Individual Development Plans using SMART, SWOT and SOAR tools. Information sharing is key to everything we do in order to exchange experiences.
An exciting part of the week was made up of exposure to innovative tools and high tech spaces. Amongst the spaces visited was the Teen Open Lab in Urbana Free Library. Joel Spencer and his team inspired our thinking in the way we think about spaces. Their design is completely in the hands of the teens who love it and run it. The Urbana Free Library staff are amazing and fun. The Children’s department is also a vibrant space run by fun librarians. I became a child again today.
University of Illinios is a hub of innovative ideas. I was unable to leave their Innovation Studio and Virtual Reality lab. The whole university has adopted the design thinking methodology. It was fun to be introduced to this concept and actually immerse ourselves in the design thinking workshop.
The discovery of the Internet Library office located in the Main Library of the University of Illinios and engaging in digitization projects was the most fun.
What a great week we’ve had.
