It felt extremely great to be at Mortenson Center Associate program finally after a long journey with our schedule beginning with introductory session. It was great to learn about other associates through short 3 minutes presentations about who they are and in what type of libraries they work. The comprehensive DISC assessment exercise really helped me to understand not only my own behavior at work but also it gave me a great idea to judge other people style of work and behavior. I have detailed report of my DISC assessment evaluation that will guide me in future as well how important it is to be flexible and adaptable in terms of behavior.
Meeting with the library buddies over the lunch was a great experience too and they were very accommodating in terms of providing guidance and help in our areas of interest. The highlight of the first week for me was the visit to Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) which gave a great opportunity to experience 3D printers, Laser Cutters, Button Makers and VR and mixed reality devices. The e-text@illinois presentation was also very informative, encouraging faculty to produce interactive books with the help of the platform. Over the weekend all the associates were taken to the farmers market for an outing and later to the dinner at Barbara’s place.
