Final considerations

In these almost 30 days of activities, I noticed how much the professionals in Brazil are still directed to technical work and that made me want to do my postdoctoral research on topics that can identify if this is a problem of training or description in job vacancies . I have walked through some areas of professional performance and ministering multidisciplinary disciplines and that has helped me to perceive the need for improvement in the training of professionals who will act in libraries, whatever they may be.
In the United States the librarian needs to take courses accredited by ALA already in Brazil, in addition to the course having the permission and control of the government, when graduating the professional only acts if he is registered in a professional council of the area, without the least need or participation of the associations. With that I perceive that the teaching grids are not aimed at the labor market or specific research, but directed at what a group of teachers want.

Working in partnerships in the form of consortiums is a reality in the United States, partnerships between institutions and between funders strengthens the systems of libraries. In Brazil, we have the “Portal of CAPES journals” that has part in free access for any citizen and one that is only accessed by the network of the university that has a postgraduate degree recognized by the inspection bodies. This virtual library helps our students a lot and avoids higher costs for institutions that end up making fewer electronic purchases. Maybe those big negotiations are not always the best ones for users in a more individualized way. See the needs of users in general, both in materials and types of information, is one of the points as teaching during that program.
The differences between my acting reality and those I have met through the Program have only confirmed that Brazilians can advance in research, social inclusion, education and others, if they improve the actions in their libraries, be they small or large, urban or rural, academic or school … when the library assumes that social and educational role, it is possible that society becomes more fair in opportunities.
