The decision to accept the Mortenson grant was not easy at all, especially at this particular time of the year (The Holy Ramadan), the month of worship, spirituality and closeness of God. It is a time when parents and relatives gather and during Eid al-Fitr, the people celebrating together. Moreover, it’s not easy to leave my children at their final exams time. However, I made this decision as a kind of self-challenge, self-development and for the best opportunities. Thank God because I made the right decision, especially after morning the program began, on the day after my arrival and the hard trip of traveling the long distance from my country (Bahrain). I had to take 3 airplanes to get to the campus of Illinois. I was so impressed by the vast Campus and the very high level of education. I was also impressed by the quality of the programs, especially designed for us as a librarians; not to mention the warm welcome from Clara, Courtney, Jean and Catalina – they are always dedicated and ready to help.
