My name is Helen Emasealu, from the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. I am a Librarian/Lecturer and, Ag. Head of Department of Library and Information Science. I am participating in the 2019 Associates Programme, Mortenson Centre, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Today featured introductions, engaging interactions and sharing of ideas and experiences with a crop of very dynamic professional Librarians from around the world. Sharing knowledge on “Smarter, Strategic and Sustainable Libraries” has opened a new vista for the reevaluation of resources, products and services in libraries; and an avenue to explore and expand our local environment and connect globally.
I have learnt a-lot on the need to redesign and turn around libraries otherwise dormant spaces into active places of opportunities and possibilities for interaction. I am excited to be part of this wonderful team. I am indeed, beginning to think smart, plan smart, talk smart, and even dream smart… more than ever before. It’s all about sustaining our core professional goals, increasing our intellectual capability, by applying the Smart and Intelligent ICT tools at our disposal to provide information for all.
