3nd week : Significance of the knowledge of the strength & weakness from DiSC

DiSC is the personal assessment tool for discussion of people’s behavioral differences.

Then, What does DiSC stand for? What do the letters mean?

D : Dominance

 

Person places emphasis on accomplishing results, the bottom line, confidence
 Behaviors
    – Sees the big picture
    – Can be blunt
    – Accepts challenges
    – Gets straight to the point

I : Influence
Person places emphasis on influencing or persuading others, openness, relationships
Behaviors
   – Shows enthusiasm
   – Is optimistic
   – Likes to collaborate
   – Dislikes being ignored

S : Steadiness
Person places emphasis on cooperation, sincerity, dependability
Behaviors
   – Doesn’t like to be rushed
   – Calm manner
   – Calm approach
   – Supportive actions

C : Conscientiousness
Person places emphasis on quality and accuracy, expertise, competency
Behaviors
   – Enjoys independence
   – Objective reasoning
   – Wants the details
   – Fears being wrong

After I got some feedback from this DiSC Communications Workshop, I could understand the others characters. There are lots of people so we should understand what they do and accept the difference. Because we have different behaviors! During the workshop with Shirley Stelbrink, the understanding of this 4 model provides a common language that people can use to better understand themselves and adapt our behaviors with others – within a work team, a sales relationship, a leadership position, or other relationships.  At the workplace, We can use this model for meeting somebody else.

When I face a difficult problem, I will be able to work through my efforts to supplement my weaknesses. Also, I can try to make a better work environment by thinking about the other side by this DiSC Model.
